Win on Sunday: Buy on Monday - 04/02/17 Martinsville

In his 15th Cup Series start on NASCAR's smallest track, Brad Keselowski finally took the checkered flag. Keselowski held off last year's winner Kyle Busch Sunday to win the sixth race of the season.


Because we recently analyzed a Brad Keselowski win in the number 2 Miller Lite Ford, let's analyze the title sponsor and how they did in the markets.

STP is an American brand and trade name for automotive aftermarket products, especially lubricants such as motor oil and motor oil additives. The name began as an abbreviation of Scientifically Treated Petroleum. The brand is owned by Armored AutoGroup (also owner of the Armor All brand), which is owned by Spectrum Brands. They trade under the symbol NYSE: SPB, so lets take a look.

The trend is strong, in the idea that having your brand in the public eye is important. While this impressive gain can't totally be attributed to having the title sponsor for this race, we can determine it certainly didn't hurt. We are going to spend more time analyzing the gains and buzz that revolve target sponsors not only in racing and golf, but perhaps other sports lend similar tendency.
